Season ponies were sold as singles only in Europe and
came with a brush, charm, and friendship ribbon. Star
Swirl and Butterscotch, though not technically
seasons, were distributed with the seasons under the
Celebration Assortment heading throughout Europe. |
Some of these
ponies were available in the US and other non-European countries
in a promotional 2-pack in the summer of 2003. If you bought Minty
or Sparkleworks you had your choice of Autumn Skye, Star
Swirl, or Butterscotch, but the 2-packs with Butterscotch were available only at Wal-Mart. Autumn Skye
would also be available in the holiday salon value pack and
Spring Fever would join Applejack in the KB Toys exclusive Tea Party
set. Star Swirl and Butterscotch would rejoin the line in 2004
in new dress-up sets.
In some parts of Europe (such as Spain, Germany, and
Belgium), these ponies were available in 2-packs
where you could buy one and get one free (the actual assortment varies).
For 2003 and 2004, Winter Snow and Sweet Summertime were
rumored for release in the states, but never showed up.
It wasn’t until 2005 that Sweet Summertime joined the US
line as a Toys R Us exclusive in the Seaside Surprise
accessory playset. Winter Snow hasn’t shown up yet and
so remains a European exclusive even today. |
