G2 ponies first appeared in the US late in the year 1997. They remained on the US market only a few years when they were discontinued due to poor sales (the line did continue on the international market until early 2003).

G2 Ponies live in
the Friendship Gardens.

The G2 pony is smaller than a traditional pony and has a slender body-style. Many collectors did not favor this style over the original and so there is a much smaller second-hand market for G2 ponies. There are however a good portion of collectors devoted to G2 ponies who are actively seeking the harder to find  products that were introduced on the international market.

The most eagerly sought G2 products are usually those from late 2002/early 2003. The G2 line would be replaced by the newer G3 line in mid-2003.

The G2 line was made up mostly of earth ponies, but there were a few unicorns, too. Pegasus ponies did not appear in the line, but some ponies had “clip-on” wings. And of course, there were babies!
